Writing Successful Grant Applications

Norma Cameron, The Narrative CompanyNorma Cameron combined her skills and experience as a fundraiser, writer and storyteller to create a whole new way of looking at work. In 2006, she started her own business, The Narrative Company to help organizations understand and apply the ‘power of story’ to help them build long-term successful relationships with their donors and clients to generate passion and motivate action. As a panelist at Volunteer Victoria's recent Grant Writing Workshop, I was asked to share some "tips and techniques" for writing successful grant applications.

In preparing for this, I was reminded of how much easier it is to write any fundraising proposal when you have the information you need. Over the years, I developed a questionnaire to collect such information. Marg Rose from the Victoria Foundation, a fellow panelist, asked if I would share this with others.

So, here's a link to my blog where you'll find the Fundraising Project Checklist. While there, check out A Fundraiser Bill of Rights – describing an ideal workplace for fundraising. Happy fundraising!
