The Victoria Foundation is a community foundation and registered charity accredited by Imagine Canada. By connecting visionary donors with causes that truly matter, we’re able to invest in people, projects and non-profit organizations that make our communities stronger – now and for the long-term. We’ve been doing so since 1936.

Ways to give during the Canada Post disruption

Every holiday season, the spirit of giving uplifts our homes, families, and friends. The Victoria Foundation also recognizes the importance of giving to communities in need, and how your generous gifts help bring our community together. In light of the Canada Post disruption, here are other avenues to make a donation until services resume:

Give online at any time

Information about ways to donate online can be found on the Victoria Foundation’s website.

Deliver your gift in person

Donations can be delivered in-person to our downtown office at 200-703 Broughton Street, during weekday hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Maximum Express

Gifts can be delivered through Maximum Express Courier to our downtown office location at the address: #200-703 Broughton Street, Victoria, BC, V8W 1E2.

Please note: The Victoria Foundation office will be closed from 4:30 p.m. on December 20, 2024, until 8:30 a.m. on January 2, 2025.

Victoria Foundation Discretionary Funds

We work hand-in-hand with community partners, charitable organizations and local leaders to tackle issues in strategic ways that strengthen our sector. We also direct funding to community organizations that are impacting meaningful change and contributing to the vibrancy and wellbeing of our community.

Donors can support the granting programs and other strategic initiatives of the Victoria Foundation by contributing to one of our discretionary funds that allocate your gift to the highest and best use.

Victoria Foundation hosts and manages 600+ funds that were established by individuals, groups and organizations that grant to charitable organizations and issues they care about.

Individual Donor Advised Funds

We host funds for individuals and families that are interested in granting to organizations that matter most to them. Make a donation to your friend or family member’s fund.*

Hosted Organization Funds

We host 195+ hosted organization funds for charities that have set up an endowment fund to create a long-term source of revenue for their organization. By pooling investments, we help them reduce their risk while optimizing returns.*

*Please indicate any special instructions at the time of your donation, otherwise, your gift will be added to the capital component of the fund when applicable.

Are You A Fundholder? Want to make a gift to your fund or grant to an organization?

If you would like to make a donation to your fund, you can donate online or make a donation through one of the many ways to give by indicating the name of your fund at the time you make your gift.

If you would like to make a grant from your fund to any charitable organization in Canada, you can do this in one of two ways:

 

Other Ways to Donate

  • BY PHONE

    Call 250-381-5532 to make a donation by credit card directly via the Victoria Foundation.

  • BY CHEQUE

    Send cheques to the Victoria Foundation at #200 – 703 Broughton Street, Victoria, BC, V8W 1E2. Please ensure cheques are made out to the Victoria Foundation. Note the designated fund in the memo line or in a cover letter.

  • PUBLICLY LISTED SECURITIES

    Complete the Donation Form for Gifts of Securities, and follow the instructions as indicated on the form. Send a copy to your broker and to the Victoria Foundation. We will look after the rest. Please note: this form is updated annually, so please download a fresh one for each gift of securities.

    If you belong to a charitable organization that holds a fund at Victoria Foundation, contact our Philanthropic Services team we would be happy to support your donors to contribute to your fund.

  • INTERAC E-TRANSFER

    Please follow the instructions below to make a donation by Interac E-Transfer to the Victoria Foundation. If you need assistance, you can contact our Finance Department at finance@victoriafoundation.bc.ca.

    1. On your bank account, set up the Victoria Foundation as a new e-Transfer recipient:
    2. Name – Victoria Foundation
    3. Email – finance@victoriafoundation.bc.ca
    4. Preferred Language – English
    5. Send e-Transfer by – Email (Victoria Foundation cannot accept Interac e-Transfers by phone)
    6. Create a secret question and answer of your choosing and ensure that you email the secret answer to finance@victoriafoundation.bc.ca (see Step 3)
    7. On your bank account, send the e-Transfer to finance@victoriafoundation.bc.ca and enter the fund name or gift designation in the message field.
    8. Send an email to finance@victoriafoundation.bc.ca with your name and address as well as the answer to your secret question.
    9. Once Victoria Foundation staff accept your donation, we will issue you with a tax receipt.
  • WIRE TRANSFER

    To send a wire transfer, please contact Philanthropic Services at donorservices@victoriafoundation.bc.ca.

  • SET UP A FUND
