Is there anything more topical currently in Greater Victoria than the issue of housing? From tent cities and homelessness, to skyrocketing real estate prices and low rental vacancy rates, the changing dynamics of housing on Southern Vancouver Island are affecting everyone.

In this episode of Vital Victoria, we talk to District of Saanich Mayor Richard Atwell about housing challenges currently facing his community, including the ongoing tent city situation. We also visit a supportive housing facility in place at the old Tally Ho hotel to speak with Victoria Cool Aid Society’s Deanna Bhandar about what is being done in the region to meet housing needs and what more needs to happen in the future.
