Pacific Design Academy students showcase stunning creations at fashion show with a heart

Victoria, B.C. – Pacific Design Academy students will be strutting their stuff at a year-end Fashion Show, as the fresh-faced fashionistas show off their dazzling designs while raising money for charity.

The Wednesday, June 28 event features the hard work of students enrolled in the Fashion Design program. From concept to consumer, these students tackle every facet of fashion design, learning not only how to bring their inspired ideas to fruition, but also how to market and monetize their stunning creations.

Through the support of the Bay Centre, Earls Kitchen + Bar Restaurants and others, the Fashion Show enables students to add real-world catwalk experience to their resume. Not only do they get to showcase their hard work, they also pick up even more skills, including custom tailoring the outfits for the local models who will be showing them off.

This is also a Fashion Show with a purpose, with all proceeds from the event going to the Victoria Foundation to help support its Community Grants program, which in 2016 saw over $2 million distributed to nearly 100 Greater Victoria charities. The students themselves will get to choose the exact community project their proceeds will go to through the Foundation’s annual Make it happen! initiative.

“We’re delighted the Pacific Design Academy thought of us for this fabulous and fun event,” said Victoria Foundation CEO Sandra Richardson. “We’ve enjoyed a long, fruitful relationship with them, and we’re thrilled to see the funds raised at this event go back into the community through our granting.”

The Fashion Show will be held at the Bay Centre, starting at 9pm, and will include appetizers and a cash bar. Tickets are $30 and are available online at Eventbrite or at the Pacific Design Academy. For more information on the Victoria Foundation visit victoriafoundation.bc.ca.
