As part of our 75th anniversary celebrations, Trapeze Communications has designed an interactive timeline so that our community can learn about and help us celebrate our rich history. V
Did you know… – Our very first gift was received in 1937 from Mrs. Fannie Gadsden, mother of the Victoria Foundation Founder Burges Gadsden. – The Victoria Foundation’s first office was located in the Sunshine Inn, Victoria’s first soup kitchen. – In 1957 Mayor Percy Scurrah was advised that the Victoria Foundation held barely $900, but was still in existence and he was a trustee. "The fund has apparently been entirely forgotten," he stated. "It contains an idea which could be very important." Indeed – a permanent source which would do good in perpetuity for the community. The Victoria Foundation grew from giving 5 grants in 1974 to 50 grants in 1984, and over 700 in 2009! You can also learn about upcoming events throughout this celebration year, enjoy stories from our donors and grantees and read a special message from our CEO, Sandra Richardson, and Board Chair, Steve McKerrell.
