KidSport logoKidSport has partnered with the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence to augment existing after-school programming at two sites in Esquimalt and central Victoria. By coaching youth leaders twice a week on ways to increase physical literacy programming, this project will benefit 80 children. Research shows some immigrant and Aboriginal children have lower rates of physical activity and sports team involvement. Utilizing a train the trainer model, KidSport and its partners will teach and mentor staff about the basics of running, jumping, throwing, catching, and other gross motor skills. By becoming more active after school, kids involved in these two project sites will decrease their screen time as part of the evaluation goals.
