Guest blog: Remembering Rachel Davis
Saturday, Dec. 21 marks the birth of Rachel Davis, who was killed at the age of 23. While the circumstances of Rachel’s death are tragic, they have also been a source of inspiration for millions of people across Canada and beyond.
A relatively new donor advised fund at the Victoria Foundation was created by her family in her honour, with assets transferred from the former Rachel Davis Foundation. So far the Rachel Davis Fund has awarded grants to three organizations: Roots of Empathy, the Victoria Restorative Justice Society, and FarmFolk CityFolk Society (for Lohbrunner Community Farm Co-op). Rachel’s legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of many.
Natasha van Bentum is Rachel Davis’ aunt. To donate to the Rachel Davis Fund click here.
