Ballet Victoria stuns in an incredible performance for Victoria Circle members

Victoria Circle members and guests recently enjoyed an intimate event at Kirk Hall showcasing excerpts from Ballet Victoria’s production of Carmina Burana.  They witnessed the strength and grace of the dancers, and the beauty of the choreography.  And over tea and treats, they engaged in conversation with the dancers and Executive and Artistic Director, Paul Destrooper.

 

The Victoria Circle was created for the 75th anniversary of the Foundation in 2011 to recognize and celebrate those who have let us know they are supporting the future of their community through a gift in their will or other estate plan. As we look ahead to the 90th anniversary of the Foundation next year, we have close to 400 members in the Circle. 

As a long-standing community partner, Ballet Victoria established an endowed fund at the Victoria Foundation in 2012, and a second one in 2021. 

These funds, together with other gifts designated to Ballet Victoria, provide a steady flow of operating dollars and scholarship support for the company. 

New gifts have also been eligible for matching funds from the Department of Canadian Heritage over many years.   

Founded in 2002, Ballet Victoria is a boutique professional ballet company with 14 dancers and four yearly productions. Their performances are dramatic, technically demanding, and often laced with humour.    

Carmina Burana, later performed at the Royal Theatre, was a spectacular experience with 166 artists on stage including the dancers, the 140-member Victoria Choral Society, and musicians from the Victoria Symphony. This collaboration amongst three local charities illustrates the power of arts and culture in our community to bring people together for an extraordinary, shared experience.  

We are grateful to the members of the Victoria Circle for placing their trust in the Victoria Foundation. By supporting the future of the causes that are important to them, they demonstrate the impact of our collective support in our region today and for future generations.
