Victoria’s Vital Signs is an annual community check-up that measures the vitality of our region, identifies concerns, and supports action on issues that are critical to our quality of life. The Victoria Foundation produces the report to connect philanthropy to community needs and opportunities. Special thanks to the Toronto Foundation for developing and sharing the Vital Signs concept and Community Foundations of Canada for supporting a coordinated national Vital Signs initiative. Victoria’s Youth Vital Signs 2012
Victoria’s Youth Vital Signs began as a special section of the Victoria Foundation’s 2009 Victoria’s Vital Signs® report to measure the vitality of our city from a youth perspective and as a way for the youth of the region to have their voices heard.
During the past three years youth age 15 – 24 were asked for their opinions on issues that are critical to their quality of life. They were open and engaged in the process and the comments they provided shaped the survey for 2012. This year respondents were asked to grade each subject area and indicate what one or two things they would change if they could. The options were drawn from comments frequently received in the previous three surveys. And this year we added a 13th issue area – Sports & Recreation.
