Vital People - Irving K Barber BC Scholarship Society

"Scholarships are important for all youth – they're the only reason I'm here [at UVic]. The Irving K. Barber Scholarship Society wants you to apply; they really want you to succeed." – Hjalmer Wenstob, Carver, third year Visual Arts student at UVic and recipient of an Aboriginal Student Award

The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society was founded in 2004 with the goal of creating equal access to education for all British Columbians. Since the society began awarding scholarship since 2006, they have given over $5 million to over 1,700 individual students.

They support post-secondary education by providing scholarships for students attending public post-secondary institutions. The Scholarship Society, in partnership with the Victoria Foundation, manages endowment funds and awards the return on investment to students through scholarship programs.

The Irving K. Barber British Columbia Scholarship Society is featured in the July 2013 Boulevard Magazine. Pick up your copy, or read it online.
