Door-to-door accessible transportation is the single most requested and required support for our region's vulnerable seniors to enable independent living while connecting to community services and programs. More than 3,000 clients receive services and as many as 9,000 rides are provided annually by volunteers around the region.
Saanich Volunteer Services Society is one of six organizations in Greater Victoria helping adults in the community stay independent in their own homes. 150 volunteers drive people to their doctor appointments and shopping appointments. The Society's volunteers also do minor home repairs and companionship – a key to combating social isolation in the senior community.
