Why you should make volunteering an important part of your life

Lisa Mort-Putland has her fingers on the pulse of volunteering in Canada, especially here at home in Greater Victoria. 

From learning essential skills to building community relationships, volunteerism has a pivotal role to play in the health of our region. It strengthens the Greater Victoria’s vital services while boosting the wellbeing of volunteers, themselves.

Lisa Mort-Putland is the Board Chair of Volunteer Canada and has been the Executive Director of Volunteer Victoria since 2011. Originally from Wales, Lisa moved to Canada as a teenager. She holds a B.A. in Drama and a Master’s in Public Administration with a focus on non-profit management.  

Prior to working with Volunteer Victoria, Lisa was the Development Manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters Victoria, and spent more than 25 years working and volunteering in the museum and heritage sector.
