Paying it forward – turning grief into positive action

Tristan, was born with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, which causes a slow breakdown of the body’s muscles over time. He was diagnosed at the age of 5, and he lost the ability to walk at the age of 10.

In 2006, the Tristan Graham Foundation Fund at the Victoria Foundation was created, and from the beginning, Tristan did not want to allocate any donations raised to go towards his disease, rather, he wanted to ‘pay it forward’ to others in need. Read more about Tristan’s story here…

Youth Educational Assistance award – thank you

I received the Youth Educational Assistance award this month, and I wanted to let those concerned know how much it means to me to have this assistance. I am in the final year of the Medical Radiography program at Camosun College, and without this help, I would not have had the means to complete my summer semester. It would have been devastating to drop out of the program with only 3 months to go, so I am extremely appreciative. I know that this funding makes a world of difference to those who apply for it. Thank you for all that you do in helping former youth in care better themselves, and in turn, their communities.
