ABCs of Physical Literacy
In May, 2011, Governor General David Johnston called on the Community Foundations of Canada to join him in bringing to life a vision for a smarter and more caring nation. Community foundations rose to the call, including the Victoria Foundation, which, in March 2012, introduced a Smart and Caring Community Fund. The fund designated up to $100,000 to match contributions that support a physical literacy program called The ABCs of Physical Literacy. It teaches fundamental physical skills – like throwing, jumping, running, catching, and kicking – to young children.
