As the national umbrella organization for Canadian charities, Imagine Canada believes that public policy decision-making is better when charities are at the table. This two-hour public policy workshop for local charity leaders and board members explained the why and how of charities’ participation in public policy, and what charities need to know about:

  • political activities reporting;
  • the federal lobbyist registration; and
  • engagement in the 2015 federal election.

The presentation featured Michelle Gauthier, VP Public Policy and Community Engagement at Imagine Canada, and Bill Schaper, Director of Public Policy and Community Engagement.

Imagine Canada’s public policy work brings charities together to speak with strong united voices; they educate charities to help them get involved in the decision-making process; and develop original policy proposals and respond to those advanced by others. This public policy roadshow was made possible through the support of the Max Bell Foundation and the Ivey Foundation, as well as the ongoing support of the Agora Foundation and the J.W. McConnell Family Foundation for Imagine Canada’s public policy work.
